Know India Programme

 

The Know India Programme (KIP) of the Ministry of External Affairs is a three-week knowledge programme designed for the diaspora youth. The primary objective of the KIP is to foster a closer connection between Indian diaspora youth and their ancestral homeland by augmenting their understanding of India.

KIP participants get an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the history and culture of India as a civilization as well as  the advancements and achievements of modern India across diverse domains, including but not limited to the realms of economy, industry, education, science and technology, telecommunications, information technology, and space science. The participants are granted the privilege of engaging in Learning Tours to a spectrum of institutions and organizations encompassing both the private and public sectors. These tours serve as a platform for participants to gain profound insights and engage in meaningful interactions with field experts and specialists.

As a part of the programme, the applicants finalized through the selection process visit India for a 21-day schedule. 90% of the cost of international airfare in respect of KIP participants visiting India is borne by the Ministry, while the remaining 10% is borne the applicants themselves.  During the period of their stay in India, the Ministry provides for their accommodation, meals (including breakfast, lunch and dinner) and domestic transportation by road/ air.

The 75th edition of the KIP is proposed to be held from July 07-27, 2024.  The programme for the 75th edition of the KIP would focus on highlighting sectoral developments of India in Science & Technology, Information & Technology, Pharmaceuticals, Infrastructure, Startup Ecosystem, Digital Infrastructure, Defence and Agriculture etc. while further highlighting cultural and civilizational heritage of India like Yoga, Ayurveda, Classical forms of Dance and Music and Archaeological history.
